The City Of Yorkville
Yorkville, the County Seat of Kendall County, is one of Illinois' proud towns of the Fox River Valley, and straddles both sides of the Fox River. Founded in 1832, Yorkville is about 50 miles southwest of Chicago and has been growing steadily. Yorkville's population has nearly doubled since the 1980's. While Yorkville's residents can enjoy the benefits of the rural atmosphere, they also have easy access to day-to-day conveniences all within a few miles. Yorkville's recreational opportunities abound.
Main Attractions
Yorkville is a host to many historical landmarks including the Oswego Fox House, Plano Depot, Seward Town Hall and Chapel On The Green, (630-553-6777). In addition to the many recreational and historical offerings in Yorkville, there are many main attractions just a few miles away. The Paramount Arts Center, (606-324-3175) was originally a movie theater, but was transformed in 1972 to a performing arts theater. Paytons Roundhouse and Brewpub, (630-264-2739) was started in an 1856 car repair shop for the Chicago Burlington and Quincy railroads. Walter Payton redeveloped the property in 1995 into a fabulous complex, consisting of a brewing company, museum, several pubs, a restaurant, banquet rooms and an outside entertainment courtyard. Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department
Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department, (630-553-4357) offers year round programs for all ages at the city's parks and at the Beecher Community Building. Residents can learn soccer, swimming, basketball, golf and many other activities for all ages. The Fox Valley YMCA, (630-552-4100) operates an outdoor pool with three swimming pools, a bath house and snack bar. Another pool is located at the Hoover Outdoor Education Center, (630-553-7361). Golfers are served well by the links at nearby Blackberry Oaks Golf Club, (630-553-7170, Cedardell Golf Club, (630-552-3242) and Fox Bend Golf Course, (630-554-3992) in Oswego, as well as nearby Orchard Valley, (630-907-0500).
Transportation
Commuter rail service to Chicago is available via the Metra Station, (630-692-6231) in Aurora, a 10-minute drive, located in downtown Aurora, via the Burlington Northern. Forty-seven suburban trains run to and from Aurora each day. Access to I-88 via Orchard Road is a mere 10 - 15 minutes. I-55 is a 15-minute drive. Midway and O'Hare Airports are a 45 - 60 minute drive.

The Yorkville Public Library, (630-553-4354) offers many resources, including public access computers, audio books as well as, newspapers, magazines and videocassettes.
Police & Fire Protection
Rose Hill is provided police protection through the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, (630-553-7500). Forty volunteers make up the Bristol-Kendall Fire Department, (630-553-6186) which serves Yorkville and its' surrounding rural area.
Health Care
Healthcare is close by in Yorkville, as medical offices affiliates with a number of area hospital groups that have located in the city. Rush-Copley,(630-978-4840) and Provena Mercy Center, (630-859-2222) are located in nearby Aurora and both have doctors' offices in Yorkville, as does Valley West Community Hospital, (815-786-8484) in Sandwich. The Fox Valley area's large Dryer Medical Clinic also has physicians' offices in Yorkville and Aurora. Rush Copley Hospital on Route 34 in Aurora also offers a health club. Delnor Hospital is just 25 minutes to the north in Batavia and Edwards Hospital is just 25 minutes to the east in Naperville. Education
Yorkville Public School District 115 covers 85 square miles in Kendall and Kane Counties. Schools include Yorkville Grade School, (630-553-4390) (K-2nd), Circle Center Intermediate School, (630-553-4388) (3rd - 5th), Yorkville Middle School, ( 630-553-4385) (6th - 8th) and Yorkville High School, (630-553-4380) (9th - 12th). Colleges in the area include Aurora College (630-892-6431), located on the west side of Aurora, and Waubonsee Community College (630-466-7900) with the main campus in nearby Sugar Grove and 2 campuses in Aurora.
